CELEBRATING CHILDREN

CELEBRATING CHILDREN
Grandma’s really appreciate and celebrate children. What diversity, what clarity of expressions, and what an experience to be with and witness their growth. To enjoy, with them, being children!

Today my son swiftly came asking me if I could take his children to a Dance Recital. Hurry Mom, Sabina needs to be there in 10 minutes. I grabbed a clean shirt, changed, half put on shoes, and went to the wrong place. Had to regroup and go to the High School auditorium.

Several days before, 5 year old Sabina came upstairs and showed me her "Cat In The Hat" costume tights, "Look Grandma, Glenn (her older teasing brother) cut my tights and I need you to sew them." Since I knew what a fiend she is with scissors, I said "Are you sure Glenn did that?" "Oh yes", she said. Since they were tights and I didn’t understand that she needed to stand on the stage in front of 300 - 400 people, I sent her back downstairs saying that I couldn’t mend them, but maybe her Mother could. Later I asked Glenn why he cut Sabina’s tights. His expression showed he had no clue as to what I was talking about.

This morning she modeled her costume for me and said that the tights were all right because the hole was in the crouch, and her nylon net skirt would cover it up. Well, I felt that would be ok, but when we got to the Dance Recital, her hole had stretched.. "It’s ok grandma," she said as we went to the recital, the hole only shows when I turn my back. Well, fortunately she didn’t have to turn her back in the dance. It was ok. She certainly isn’t one to sweat the small stuff.
AWESOME IS THE ONLY WAY TO DESCRIBE HER DANCING! Just ask her grandma.
